On Wednesday 3 December 2014, 31 years after Great Barrier Airlines’ first flight between Auckland and Great Barrier Island, Sunair commenced their service from Ardmore. The aircraft, Cessna 172 ZK-DHN left Ardmore at 8am on landing at Coromandel and before continuing on to the Barrier. Ryan Bergman writes, “It was a great start to the service with the aircraft to and from the barrier being full!” In inaugurating the new Sunair service he trumped his father’s first flight 31 years before… he only had one passenger! (see http://3rdlevelnz.blogspot.co.nz/2012/01/barrier-connection-great-barrier.html)

We look forward to Sunair developing this service over the coming summer.

A sunny day for Sunair's Cessna 172 ZK-DHN to make its first flight. Ready for departure from Ardmore
A beautiful day on the Barrier
